The weather forecast was frightening and accurate. After
months of drought throughout the Midwest, August 26 was expected to be a
rainy day. And was it ever, a real soaker. But the rain did
not shut down the 2012 Geneva Concours or discourage the hardy souls
from our club who understook to bring their cars to Geneva for our
second annual historical 356 display. We had 19 cars this year, 3
more than in 2011, and 14 of them were in the display for the first
time. And over in the big show next door, club member Tony Shaneen
entered his 356SC-GT in the competition and won an award for Outstanding
Paint.
The rain did not discourage the audience either. We saw a steady flow
of people throughout the day. Most were carrying umbrellas, but
come they did to admire the cars and read the signs.
The people who brought their cars this year were:
Dan Bell, 1953 Cabriolet
Kevin Murray, 1954 Coupe
Jay Yost, 1956 Cabriolet
Doug Feistamel, 1956 Coupe
Jim Eckmann, 1960 Cabriolet
Jeff Sydel, 1960 Coupe
Brian Stevens, 1960 Coupe
Tom McGinty, 1962 Coupe
George Mann, 1962 Coupe
Wally Wright, 1962 Cabriolet
Jim Ozimek, 1964 Coupe
Gordy Smith, 1964 Coupe
Dennis Juul, 1965 Coupe
Tim Curtis, 1965 Coupe
Bruce Robertson, 1954 Speedster
Curt Crowell, 1956 Speedster
Rick Gurolnick, 1959 Convertible D
Bill Favors, 1962 Roadster
Michael McGinty, 1955 Spyder Replica
Our thanks go out to them for braving the weather and making the
event a success. Special thanks as well to Wally and Jay for
helping with the signs and to Bill and Peter Van Nortwick for
transporting the 1953 Cab.
