This year we broke with tradition and held our annual dinner at the
Medinah Country Club instead of a restaurant. Over forty club members
and their guests showed up on the last day of January to socialize, to
eat and to watch each other collect prizes in a raffle that, thanks to
the efforts of club volunteers, literally had something for everyone.
It was Events Chairman Bill Van Nortwick's idea to have this
year's dinner at Medinah, and he followed it up with convincing the
board to try something new and working out the details with Medinah.
Which of those tasks was harder only Bill could say, but his work paid
off beautifully and a great time was had by all.

When a pernicious rumor began circulating that the model car
in the center of each table was going to be a prize for one lucky
person at that table, club members were observed looking at the
undersides of their chairs for the winning ticket.

Disappointment over the centerpieces was dispelled when Bob Hindman
announced that every guest would be taking a 1:87 model 356 home.

The party would never have been the success that it was without the
hard work and perseverance of Bill and Jane Van Nortwick.
