1959 356 Convertible D Outlaw.
Tip-off that a 356 was the car for me:Loved the body styling and form.
My age when I acquired my first 356:30.
Engine type:Now a 3.0 liter 911.
Miles driven per year:3,000-5,000.
Favorite destination:Road America.
Fantasy road trip:Europe.
Most inconvenient mechanical failure:Distributor drive.
Car I'd have if I couldn't have a 356:Some other cool resto mod - made individual by my design background.
What I like most about my car:Charming body design, mechanical excellence years later.
Most unique feature:The aerodynamics. You can talk at a normal tone of voice with the top down at 100 mph.
Most recent repair:Redoing the wiring and electrical. After 58 years the original harness was pretty crusty!
Longest drive so far:Over 1,000 miles to the U.P. and Great Lakes.
Next project with this car:Replacing the convertible top.
